A Heart for Africa

Graduation

I’m standing here in my cap with its bright yellow tassel and gown on graduation day. I’m officially a college graduate!  It has been a wonderful day and the proudest moment of my life when I walked onto that platform and received my diploma.  A single mother who had to work two jobs in order to support my daughter and me and make enough money to go to college, I must say that I am humbled and thankful to be where I am now.  I’m on the phone now, speaking to my brother who couldn’t make it.

Yes, with God all things are possible.  I’m a testimony to that.  My family is all excited.  I am touched when I see the pride on my parents’ faces.  They know the struggles I have been through.  In a few minutes, we will be celebrating over at my sister’s house.  I can’t wait to be there and be with my precious baby who said to me this morning, “I’m proud of you, Mama.”  Those precious words made the struggles and trials all worth it.
